VeryFirstTo.com, a site offering top-shelf "luxury products and experiences,” has teamed with John Salt's head chef Ben Spalding this season. The result? A four person $200,000 (£125,000) holiday feast using some of the most expensive ingredients in the world.
The first course includes a $60,000 bottle of Piper-Heidsieck Champagne 1907 Champagne, which not only predates World War I, but is also served in diamond-studded flutes for full-effect. It's paired with the world's priciest ($8,000) caviar and 150-year-old balsamic vinegar. The second course introduces a Yubari King melon ($4,000) from China, served with whole white truffles and saffron. Rare turkey breed with Wagyu beef filet and heart, enveloped in 50-carat gold leaf and sprinkled with Akbari pistachios, rounds out the main course. And if you still have room -- dessert features Kopi Luwak (coffee berries that have passed through the digestive cycle of the Asian civet cat) with a limited, seedless Densuke watermelon from Hokkaido.
It's a lot of eating. And while a meal featuring $1,700 balsamic vinegar is decadent and indulgent for sure, it's also a one-of-a-kind dining experience that gives back -- eighty percent of Spalding’s fee goes to to Cancer Research U.K. and Hospitality Action.
